NEUROMODULATORS
What Are Neuromodulators?
Neuromodulators such as Nuceiva® are injectable wrinkle relaxers. It uses botulinum toxin type A, a purified protein, to temporarily relax the muscles. The result is an improvement of the appearance of facial wrinkles and expression lines.
Nuceiva® treatments are minimally invasive and are a safe and effective way to soften fine lines and wrinkles.
Common treatment areas include:
• Glabellar region (frown lines)
• Crow’s feet (fine lines around the eye area)
• Forehead lines (horizontal lines)
• Smoker’s lines (lines above and around the mouth)

How Do Neuromodulators Work?
Nuceiva® works by temporarily blocking nerve impulses in specific facial muscles. It can also slow the formation of new lines by preventing contraction of facial muscles. Maximum treatment results are seen after 14 days, however, many patients report seeing the effects begin to show within the first 3-5 days. Results last approximately 3-4 months on average but will vary depending on individual factors.
The entire procedure takes approximately 15-20 minutes, with little to no downtime.
How to Prepare for Your Treatment
Neuromodulators are a nonsurgical, in-office treatment that requires minimal preparation. You should let your treatment provider know about your medical history, allergies, or medical conditions before your procedure.
It is recommended to avoid blood-thinning agents such as aspirin, Advil or alcohol use 24-48 hours prior to treatment to reduce the risk of bleeding and bruising. Your provider will review post treatment care in detail with you before and after your appointment.
